Founded in 1998 by Rev. Joseph Lowery, The People’s Agenda is a Georgia-based coalition uniting civil rights, labor, youth, women’s, and peace and justice groups to advance voting rights, criminal justice reform, quality education, affordable housing, economic development, and political inclusion for communities of color and underrepresented populations. They empower voters through citizenship education, challenge discriminatory policies, lobby for accountability in government, and drive grassroots campaigns, such as securing transit funding, establishing civilian oversight, and fighting voter suppression, to strengthen Georgia’s democracy.
The Economic Justice Coalition (EJC) has maintained a formal partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Athens (UUFA) for over a decade. As a designated Justice Partner, EJC is allotted one month each year during which it may participate in UUFA’s “Share the Plate” program at every religious service held that month.

Additionally, EJC is granted rent-free access to the entire UUFA facility twice annually, as well as the use of one meeting room each month.
In return, EJC agrees to recognize UUFA as a Justice Partner through prominent placement on its website and to promote UUFA events across EJC’s media platforms, provided those events align with EJC’s mission and scope of work.
