Welcoming two new board members, Mark Evans (District 9) and Tim Denson (District 1), the first meeting of 2023 included Board President LaKeisha Gantt’s request for Nominations for renaming Chase Street and Alps Road with support from multiple public comments from community members. The district also shared it’s list of Legislative Priorities for 2023, highlighting alignment with state-level legislation that affects education. The board also reviewed applicants for the newly-vacant District 2 Seat including former Antwon Stephens who was previously appointed by the board in 2020 to complete the school district’s vacated seat and did not run for another term.
